Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing-Sports Report 10-3-11
Fall colors, fishing,
hunting great fall weather, it doesn’t get any
better anywhere in
Northern Minnesota.
Anglers all seem to be
catching fish, walleyes, pike, sauger and perch.
Limits are scarce, but
there’s a lot of enjoyment just catching fish.
Jig and minnow remains
the hands down favorite for walleyes.
Depth ranges between
22’-30’, rock pile edges and shoreline
points with sharp
drop-offs appear to be holding schools.
Windblown bays and
weedy shorelines are kicking out northern
pike. Sucker minnows
and bobber combinations work great as well
as tossing artificial
lures. Perch and sauger taking the walleye
are the lower depths
near the 30’ mark.
Light colored 3/8 and ½
oz ball head jigs were consistently the
best color
choice. Weather forecast models look good for continuing a great
fall season. You might
find fishing in the morning to
afternoon, then switch
to hunting could round out a great day.
