Kabetogama/Namakan Fish & Sports Report 3/1/2010
The inland season for Pike and Walleye wrapped up this
past weekend with some fanfare. Folks enjoyed the
weather and the
bite, wasn't great, but some nice fish were put on the ice.
Crappie action began to some degree, some nice slabs,
but the bite is day to day, minnow with small jig,
minnow head,
plain hook, they all worked on the days the bite was on.
Anglers in our area don't need to worry about the
Pike-Walleye season, as it continues into Mid-April on
the border
lakes, Namakan and Sand Point both qualify.
One of the favorite ways to go now is, one walleye jig
rod, one tip-up. Many nice northern
pike taken this time of year.
A
reminder to all, the big females caught through the ice
now, especially pike are getting ready to spawn soon,
releasing them would be a noble gesture.
Gear up now for crappies or border watering angling and
enjoy the approaching spring.
Snowmobile trails still very ride able on land,
compliment the lake trail system which is still in great
shape.
If
any snow comes our way soon, your best riding might
still be in March.
Look
forward to seeing you soon....
