Kabetogama - Ash River Area

Crane Lake Area
ARROWHEAD
STATE TRAIL - thanks to the MN DNR
3/3/2010: Conditions:
good Trail groomed? yes Trail base: 0-4"
Local snow depth is
12-14"
The snow base and trail conditions are deteriorating due to warm temperatures
and sunshine. Open areas and south
facing slopes have really lost snow. Grooming has ceased pending additional
snow. Conditions should be fair to good on
most stretches for the weekend, but expect some bare patches, exposed rocks and
dirt. Please use caution, especially on corners and hills.

RIVER/KABETOGAMA AREA - thanks Phil & Ellen at Gateway Store,
Kabetogama
3/7/2010 - K eep
an eye open at our weather conditions. We need more snow after this
weekend for land trails, which have deteriorated rapidly.
Lake trails will remain safe, but again we need snow.
VTSI UPDATED -
3/4/2010:
Warmer weather over the next few days
is the making of spring. Trails will be groomed
and temps during the evening and night are going to be perfect. Come
enjoy the perfect weather for riding and the
Crane Lake Challenge on Saturday in Crane Lake.
If you have questions please email David Dill,
rep.david.dill@house.mn.

INTERNATIONAL
FALLS AREA - thanks to Int'l
Voyageurs Snowmobile Club
3/1/2010:
The trails are in fair/good shape at this time. The warm weather might be a
little rough on them but
hopefully we have a little more cold and snow in the future forecast. Don't want
the season to end quite yet.
UPDATED
FALLS REPORT?
CRANE LAKE AREA -
thanks to Crane Lake Visitor & Tourism Bureau
1/23/2010:
Warmer temps last week compacted the trails nicely. Local clubs are still
grooming land trails on a normal schedule of
at least three times per week. It rained last night which made things a bit
slippery, but the rain has turned to snow and we are expected
to get 4-10 inches of snow.....that's what the folks who "know" are
saying. Everyone in the business hopes they are correct. Lake riding
remains in good condition, and the trails have deteriorated a bit, but are in
good shape, and there are few complaining about them.
Area resorts are here ready to serve you!

VOYAGEURS NAT'L
PARK
3/4/2010:
The best
snowmobiling of the winter season is now occurring in Voyageurs
National Park and the surrounding community. All snowmobile trails in the
park, including the Chain of Lakes Trail, are open and in excellent
condition. With the addition of the new ice road that circumvents Dryweed
Island, Voyageurs National Park staff would like to remind visitors that
the intent of the ice road is for day use enjoyment of the area.
Please remember that the snowmobile speed limit within Voyageurs National
Park is 45 mph on frozen lake surfaces and 25 mph on all overland portages.
Speed limit signs are posted at trailheads and overland portages. Weekly
winter trail conditions reports are available on our website at
www.nps.gov/voya.
